Citizens of the World Charter School
Position | MISSION AND PURPOSE
Citizens of the World Charter Schools (CWC Schools) is an intentionally diverse, not-for-profit national network of charter schools that are a microcosm of the world that our children will one day lead. CWC Schools challenge students to realize their full potential and to thrive in a diverse society. With schools currently in Los Angeles and Kansas City, we develop sophisticated thinkers who master content and have a courageous and compassionate sense of responsibility for themselves and all people.
CWC Schools’ purpose is to realize human potential by strengthening the bonds among us and developing true citizens of the world. This purpose serves as a guide for CWC Schools (the national network), and our CWC regions. The national network’s mission is to impact and expand the conversation about what an excellent education contains, requires, and accomplishes. We are preparing our students to emerge as a new generation of leaders--trailblazers who can tackle the current and future challenges of our world. And by expanding our Learning Model beyond just content mastery and achievement, to include a focus on the whole child, our students will learn to live within the context of today and tomorrow’s society.
Citizens of the World Charter Schools – Las Vegas is a separate, locally based, not-for-profit organization that will govern Citizens of the World schools in the region. The mission of CWC Las Vegas is to provide an excellent public education focused on developing and demonstrating understanding while building connections within a diverse community.
CWC Las Vegas will provide a socioeconomically, culturally and racially diverse community of students in Clark County with an intellectually challenging, experiential learning environment that develops each student’s potential, as individuals and as citizens of the world in which we live. We aim to provide a high-quality education for all students from kindergarten to grade eight, laying the foundation for future school, professional, and personal success. By drawing on one of Clark County’s greatest assets - the diversity of the people who call it home - we seek to create a hub for community activity that truly reflects and embraces the ethnic, racial and socioeconomic diversity of the region.
